The Town of Trace is aware of public interest surrounding an agricultural compliance action conducted this week at a former produce-packing property east of town. The action was led by state agriculture officials with assistance from county personnel. Trace employees provided traffic control and access to municipal utility records.

The inspection concerns the labeling, storage and resale of produce distributed through several roadside markets. No finding has been issued against any current Trace market vendor, and the Saturday produce tables at Depot Square will continue on their regular schedule.

During the inspection, officials collected business records and other materials from structures on the property. Questions concerning the ownership, evidentiary value or age of those materials should be directed to the agencies conducting the review.

The Town has not been advised that the property presents a danger to the public. Because portions of the review remain active, the Town will not identify private individuals or speculate about reports connecting the inspection to an older investigation.
