County road crews will replace the remaining County Road 18 route markers east of Trace beginning March 23. The road has appeared in municipal records as East Orchard Road since 2004, but several older signs remain at farm and forestry-road intersections.
Historic maps, property deeds and emergency logs may use either name. Residents reviewing older documents should note that mileage references were measured from the former produce stand rather than from Depot Square.
One weathered marker near the south service lane will be retained by the Trace Historical Society. Other removed signs will not be available for public sale.
